Hey I haven’t posted in a while; but last night, my fellow artist friend Jacob Hurley ( www.jacobhurleyart.com ) and I just decided to work on a quick sketch together and it came out quite nice.
We are going to take this idea and eXpand on it some more.

The finished yet unfinished oil painting by WILL COTTON. It was such a privilege to sit for him and hear the words of wisdom he shared with a group of up and coming artists at the New York Academy of Art!
“Hi, my name’s Jacob Hurley. I’m an artist. I don’t smoke weed anymore, but I do support its legalization. In regard to your previous question [What does this change, weren’t people still smoking before?] And getting caught and incriminated at an incredibly unfair rate, biases that are more clearly elaborated in “The New Jim Crow” by Michelle Alexander. Besides that and the proven medical uses, marijuana has another, less known, but incredibly positive affect involving personal growth and introspection. Legalization is part of cultural acceptance. And culturally accepting this spiritual drug is a huge step in getting our society to wake up. Having our nations capitol step up and take the lead along side Colorado and Washington was crucial. I strongly believe in “Turn on, tune in, drop out,” but America will never get the chance to “Turn on” in the first place if we maintain the stigma we currently have on relatively harmless drugs.”
Every step brings us a little closer to Conscious Evolution!
I’ve found a home in the Bushwick section of BROOKLYN! I don’t know how long I’ll be here, but I know that I’m in the right place, surrounded by the right people. Along side me float the perfect assortment of fun and mature roommates ready to ride the wave of NYC. Wont you come and visit me at my Studio Gallery? Make some art and play with the stray kitties outside… What’s most exciting is that I know exactly what I have to do and how to do it. Wouldn’t wana ruin the surprise though. Stay tuned!
Leaving the awesomely art filled city of Philadelphia, with so many murals, stickers, and street art everywhere that if you tried to stop, view, and photo everything cool, you wouldn’t get very far. Its beautiful. The people, the places, the art, the atmosphere…
